How to set up MailerLite like a Pro

  1. Create an account: The first step to using MailerLite is to create an account. You can sign up for a free trial or choose a pricing plan that best suits your needs and budget. Once you create your account, you will have access to all the features and tools that MailerLite has to offer.

MailerLite offers a free account setup. Credit card information is only required once you reach 1,000 subscribers.

Start your MailerLite account by clicking the sign-up free button. Simply enter your name or company name or organization, email, and password, then hit the “Create my account” button.

You can sign up with any email address, including Gmail or Yahoo. However, to send newsletters, it is recommended to have a custom email address with your own domain name, such as support@earlxhustle.com.

If you want a personalized business email address like the above address you need to have access to a domain first and I recommend Hostinger.

Choose Hostinger and get the perfect domain name for your business email. From Shared Hosting and Domains to VPS and Cloud plans.

Getting your MailerLite account Approved

You will quickly be taken to the welcome page. Before you do anything else, the first thing is to make sure you get your account approved.

Completing your Profile

To start, click on the “Complete your profile” link and fill in the necessary information. MailerLite only asks for your name, address, time zone, and some data for statistical purposes such as your industry, current number of subscribers, and how you found out about MailerLite.

After filling in all fields, accept their anti-spam policy and click on Confirm.

Verifying your website

To verify your website, click on the “Verify your website” link, enter your domain name, and click “Next.”

A custom email address, such as support@earlxhustle.com, is required for maximum email deliverability. Using a Gmail, Yahoo, or similar email address may cause your newsletters to be marked as spam by email providers.

Click “Next” and a confirmation link will be sent to your email.

Congratulations, your MailerLite account setup is now complete!”

Importing your existing Subscribers into MailerLite

To transfer your subscribers from another email marketing provider to MailerLite, first export your email list as a CSV or TXT file to your computer.

Then, click on the “Add Subscribers” button on the MailerLite welcome screen or go to the “Subscribers” tab at the left side of the page and click on the green “Add Subscribers” button.

The first option allows you to import the CSV or TXT file you previously downloaded. Ensure that the column names match the information you collected before. If a matching field name is not present in the drop-down menu, create a new text/numeric/date field with a relevant name.

Do not worry if one subscriber was not added, it’s likely the table header.

You can also opt to import subscribers from an Excel sheet, manually add them one by one, or if you were previously using MailChimp, easily transfer your data by connecting the accounts.

Understanding the MailerLite Tabs

The simplicity of MailerLite begins with its user-friendly menu located at the top of the page.

Dashboard

This is where you will discover a comprehensive overview of your account on this page. At the top, you’ll find the latest sent email newsletter (referred to as a “campaign” in MailerLite) and details about your subscribers, plan, and account statistics.

Campaigns

A MailerLite campaign is a simple email newsletter you can send to your whole list or just a specific group of people who have subscribed to your website or your landing page.

To create a newsletter, click on Campaigns and select the green button that says Create Campaigns then you make a campaign name.

  1. Regular campaign (a regular newsletter)
  2. A/B split campaign (create two versions of the same newsletter for the purpose of testing which one performs best)
  3. Auto resend (if a subscriber doesn’t open a newsletter in a certain amount of time MailerLite will automatically resend the email at a later date)
  4. RSS Campaign (sends out a newsletter every time you publish new content on your blog)

Design your newsletter and select which subscribers will receive it, then schedule it for delivery. The campaigns tab will provide a list of your previously sent newsletters along with their statistics. By clicking the View report option, you can get insights on which links were clicked by subscribers, the countries where the newsletter was opened, etc

Campaign details

One of the key features of MailerLite is the Campaigns tab, which provides good information on your email campaigns, including the ability to create, manage, and deliver newsletters and promotional emails to your subscribers. Here you are given the option to type in the Subject of your email newsletter, who is it from, and then tracking options.

Email Design

Here you will be given the opportunity to design your email and send it to your desired subscribers. On Mailerlite you will be given three options to create a design for your email which is the Drag & Drop Editor, Rich-text Editor, and a Custom HTML editor.

You will also be given access to a Template Gallery where you can select from a wide variety of newsletter designs for your emails

Automation

It is quite remarkable that MailerLite offers full automation capabilities even with its forever-free plan.

I’m in love with this choice. It’s the only technique I’ve utilized to increase my email list to hundreds of subscribers in just over two months.

For those curious about automation, it’s a clever method of sending an email or a series of emails when a subscriber takes a specific action or a certain time has elapsed.

I utilize automation to dispatch all of my greeting messages and gradually disseminate my free email course over 6 days once a subscriber has signed up. To begin the automation process, simply click on the option to create a new workflow. Give it a title, select a trigger, and choose a subscriber group.

MailerLite provides a vast selection of trigger options. You can send an email once a subscriber joins a group, which is typically when they sign up, or when they click a specific link in a previous email that was sent, among other options.

Once you’ve selected the first trigger, you will be presented with 4 options:

  • Create an email
  • Set a delay period before any other action is taken (ie. wait 15 minutes before you send an email to your subscribers)
  • Define a condition (if the subscriber does this, do A, otherwise do B)
  • Choose an action (ie. copy the subscriber to a new group or remove the subscriber from a specific group)

If you want to give MailerLite a try, you can sign up here. It’s FREE for up to 1,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month.
